Love Irresistibly is a Romance novel by Julie James.

I enjoyed the way he was always telling Brooke how things were going to be. He may be one of my favorite Julie James heroes. Brooke was lovely, although she didn't stand out quite as much as Cade. She's highly intelligent as is standard for Julie's characters , but she has more issues and insecurities, which made her very relatable.

I loved her dynamic with Cade - from the very start she's always challenging him.

I was initially concerned when I read the synopsis about these two trying to keep things casual. I thought their determination to stay "free" would take away from the romance elements of the story.

I'm happy to report, that this was not the case. There were some seriously swoon worth moments in this book. Outside of the romance in the book, there isn't a ton of plot. There are a series of interesting legal issues dealt with, and some FBI drama involving corrupt politicians, but all that is really just background noise to the romance. Where the lack of a nonromantic plot would normally bore me, I didn't feel that was the case in this story.

There was enough going on, and loads of romantic tension to keep the story interesting. If you enjoy contemporary romance, or are a Julie James fan, then I can't recommend this book highly enough.

Julie James

My Review: As per usual, this book was a great example of Julie James' smart, sassy, fun writing style. This time the characters are Cade, Assistant Attorney General in Chicago and Brooke who works as an attorney for a restaurant corporation.

Definitely interesting. I liked Cade's story line with his father and half brother, especially the scenes between him and Zach. I also really enjoyed the story line of Cade's football career.

Best scene in the book where Brooke is taking care of Cade after he's been throwing with Zach Yes, I'm a sucker for a wounded hero.

I enjoyed the book I always enjoy Julie's writing. I know it's going to be witty and smart and completely entertaining going into it and this one did not disappoint on that aspect at all. The main reason she is on my auto-download list. I know that a book by Julie James is going to be sassy and fun! My single complaint I think this is Julie's fifth book now. Maybe it's just me, but all her characters are beginning to feel like the same people.

Love Irresistibly

Besides the specific details of the career and family background, the characters are the same people. They are smart and sarcastic, but they seem to be just slight variations on the exact same character.

And, honestly, I'm not even sure that's a bad thing because I love Julie James's books. I know going into it exactly what kind of read it's going to be, but I guess after book I'm just hoping for a bit more.

The Thing About Love

They are my new favorite couple! Brooke is an ambitious, career oriented and extremely successful lawyer. And a funny sassy one too.

She struggles with long days and how to create a life for herself. My heart broke when she looked out from her office window to see all the happy carefree people walking around in the evening.

I can so relate to Brooke, and she is my new favorite heroine! Although, I try not to take advantage of that too often.

Very awkward negotiating with people who are sitting around in their underwear. And the fact that we get to spend some time with Rylann, Cameron and Pallas from the previous books!

And it's funny, sexy and brilliantly executed.

It is a smart book. I read it slowly, savoring every little bit. I cried happy tears after finishing it, and that's something I never do.
